Summer of the monkeys is about a 14 year old boy Jay Berry Lee. He has a sister named Daisy. Daisy has a twisted leg. His parents are farmers, one day their cow named Sally Gooden, got loose on to the river bottoms. When getting the cow, he sees a monkey! Jay berry finds out that the monkeys are worth a lot of money. Coming up with plans he finally suceeds in finding the monkeys. He uses the money to get a pony, .22 gun, and to fix Daisy's leg.
