Jefery Magee is a boy whos parents die in a trgic trolly crash. When he goes to live with his aunt dot and unclee dan he just cant stand it because they have two of everything. They have two of everything because they didnt like each other and didnt want to be around eachother. Eventually Jefery runs away and just keeps runnung. People that saw him running gave him the nickname Maniac Magee. When Maniac is running one day he met a girl, amanda beale. In the town Maniac was in when he met Amanda had a east end and a west end, which seperated whit from colered people. Amanda was colered and Maniac was not. Maniac went to live with Amanda and her family. Then somebody grafittied the house with mean stuff about him because he was white and everyone else was colored, so he ran away. For a while he was living at the zoo in the deer or buffalo pen. Then he met Grayson. Grayson was an older man who lived at the Y and worked at a baseball stadium. Grayson let Maniac live in the bandshell at the baseball stadium. Grayson buys Maniac clothes, food, and puts a heater in the bandshell for Maniac. When grayson dies Maniac goes to live with John Mcnab. John is a kid that Maniac met. John is also a bully and at first was mean to Maniac. In the end Maniac lives with the Beales and no one bullys him anymore. :o)
