I read this book a loooong while back and re-visited it for a project during my freshman year of college. I had to put down 25 books every human should read relating to celebrating differences. As I recall, the book was a beautiful illustration of the Indian caste system and it portrayed every aspect. The book had the silent, brave warrior, the wise old Brahman down to the lowly "untouchables." I did not find this book boring at all. It came to mind when I had to think of books, so I must have liked it when I read it the first time. I think Alexander was able to depict all of the levels of the caste system very well.
