Penguin98 writes the following about The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, No 1) :
Phillip Pullman has written a magnificent book on a girl named Lyra, who is blessed with the knowledge of how to read an althiometer, with tells the truth. Her world is parrallel to ours, a world that has also the fairy tale things that we read in books, such as witches. in this world. Each person in Lyra's world has a part of their soul out side of them, called a daemon, that can maintain any animal form. The book is well written, and Pullman has enveloped my mind with his fantisies. Good work Pullman
