Ashley Hiott writes the following about A Walk to Remember :
In the book A Walk to Remember the main character Landon chooses Drama as his final class and coencidentally Jaime is in the class too. Landon has known Jaime since preschool and has been in the same class since Elementary school. At first Landon has to do the play because he is part of the class and has no choice. When Jaime asks him to play the lead role along with her he is a little reluctant. He is playing the main part because the person who is supposed to play him has a really bad studder and takes a long time to say his lines. During the rehersals Jaime asks Landon to walk her home. Landon begins to fall in love with Jaime whils rehearsing the play. The Drama teacher Miss Garber suggests that Jaime and Landon should ask the director of the orphanage if they can show the play to the kids in order for a dress rehearsal. The director of the orphanage doesn't think this is a good idea because it will show the kids what they don't have because they don't have parents. The day of the play Landon finally gets to see Jaime in her costume which is a beautiful white dress meant to look like an angel. Everyone thinks that Jaime looks beautiful in the dress and he finally realizes that he is in love with her. During the rest of the school year Landon takes Jaime out and finally finds out that she has a very rare form of Cancer and that she is going to die. When her father tells the congregation eveyone is quiet and doesn't believe it. Landon asks Jaime to marry him and she accepts and they spend the rest of the school year and summer together. Jaime died and Landon became a better man.
