Olive's Ocean
Olive's Ocean was the best book I EVER read! Olive's Ocean was written by Kevin Henkes. It is a realistic fiction novel, and I think that for the readers girls ten through thirteen should read the book. I say that because of what happens in the book. Plus the fact that Martha is 12 and the main boys are thirteen through fourteen.
Olive's Ocean was great!! The climax was fantastic, and the events leading up to the climax got more and more intense until I couldnt stop reading. Even after the climax it was intense! I would give Olive's Ocean a 10/10 because once the intensity started to pick up you couldnt stop reading!! Then once you finish you get mad because there isn't any more!!
In Olive's Ocean a lot happens. Olive who is someone that was in the same grade as Martha and the same age was killed from a car that hit her. Right before Martha's family left to visit Martha's grandma in Cape Cod, Olive's mom brought Martha a note. The note said "June 7: My Hopes
I hope that I can that I can write a book someday... I also hope that I can go to a real ocean as the Atlantic or Pacific...
What else do I hope?
I hope that I get to know Martha Boyle..." Marthas brother is exactly one year older the her. Mrtha calls her her grandma Godbee. Marthas dad started to write a novel, so he quit his job. On vacation he decided to go back to work full time. Martha and Godbee decide to tell each other something new about each other every day. So they tell each other something and then Martha goes outside to write, but ends up falling asleep. She was woken up by the Manning boys (Jimmy, Tate, Todd, Luke and Leo), and Vince her brother. They asked her if she wanted to film with them. Usaully she would be attracted to Tate, but now she is attracted to Jimmy. Olive's Ocean was such a good book!!!
I really woldn't change anything except the person who is tellig the story. I think it should have switched what characters point of view it was. So instead of Marthas point of view the whole time switch it to Vinces or Jimmys or some parts Tate. Some parts if it was Tates point of view it would have been a lot more interesting!!
