Brittany writes the following about The Sign of the Beaver :
A boy named Matt, who waits for the the return of his father, while trying to survive alone, in a cabin in Maine. He runs into some problems like an attack of swarming bees. Matt is rescued by an Indian Chief, and his grandson, Attean. Both Attean and Matt share each others customs and beliefs. They have many adventures together. Matt teaches Attean to speak English. In return, Matt learns to become a better hunter. Matt must make a hard decision to wait for his family to come, or join the beaver tribe with Attean.
