cello writes the following about Uglies :
In a world in the future, there is no pollution. no war, peace, and very unnatural beautiful people to where everyone just stares at them. Every single person has that chance if they want, and then get’s to live in a paradise of parties everyday and plenty of friends. That is all what Tally Youngblood wants. Until she met Shay and they become best of friends. Before they both turn 16, Shay told her she didn’t want to become pretty and that she was going to run away to a place called the Smoky. Tally decided to stay when it meant to remain ugly for the rest of her life. Then when she turned 16, she got blackmailed to betray her friend to reveal the Smoky in order to become pretty. Tally sets off to the Smoky, alone and with the guidance of Shay’s instructions. When Tally got to the Smoky, she discovers a whole new life in the Smoky. There, she discovered the secret that started the Smoky. A new and unexpected secret about becoming pretty that now Tally does not want to become pretty. She starts a whole new life in the Smoky with her friends, Croy, David and Shay learning new thing, the beauty of nature and what had happened to the Rusties. Then when trying to keep the secret, she betrayed it. When everyone got captured, it was up to Tally and David to save them. They succeeded, but now Tally must sacrifice herself to become in order to become a test subject for a cure. It would have everyone become their normal self. I rate this book a 9. It had plenty a drama to keep the story going, but not enough to give it a 10. The book also had great detail that gives enough information to produce an accurate mental image according to the story. Another good thing about this book is that I thought it had a cool storyline. It kept me entertained to the very last page. The only thing I would change about this book is to give it either more drama or some action. Besides that, this book was great!
