It's a really confusing book to understand but what really seems to be happening is that this boy named John is trapped inside his own head. He thinks everything isn't what it is. His stepfather abuses him and his dog. He loves the popular girl. When he asks this girl if she wants to go to a basketball game on Firday though a note, she eats his note. But she said yes. She didn't want to be caught with the note by the teacher so she ate it. In my opinion, this book wasn't the best and I think I would have rather had read something else. No offence to you people who like it.
