Cheeselover Goose jr. writes the following about The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, No 1) :
The Golden Compass is a book that I would NOT recommend. It’s about a girl out to kill God. The people who are trying to stop her are the church. If you’re a Catholic or anything close to it, you’ll not be happy with book you are reading. I think it’s a little confusing where the book is trying to lead you. I mean I’m so used to knowing that the church are the good people that I get mixed up who are the good guys. It’s sad that the author used his skills badly. I didn’t read the whole book, because I know better not to waste my time reading something that I don’t like, but I hope you won’t start to read this book.
