sarah writes the following about So Far From the Bamboo Grove :
So Far from the Bamboo Grove is a great read and I highly recommend it. This book is about Yoko, an 11 year old girl who is Japanese and living in Korea in the late 1930's early 1940's. After the Japanese had oppressed Korea for over a decade, the Korean's were quite resentful of the Japanese. As a result, for Yoko and her family's safety they must escape to Japan, their homeland. This book is about their journey of strength and courage.
