JONATHON writes the following about Holes :
HOLES takes place at camp green lake. Stanley is supposedly ther for stealing a pair of a famous athlete's sneakers.Every day a large group of boys dig a five foot wide five foot deep hole. Stanley, makes a friend the first week of camp. His friends name is Zero. Zero ends up protecting Stanley from Zig-Zag, then he smacks Mr. Pendanski with a shovel and runs off. Then stanley tries to look for Zero. So, he steals a water truck, but he ends up crashing into a hole. Then he runs hoplessly toward a mountain he calls Big Thumb because it looks likes a fist with a thumb sticking up. On the way, he sees a boat. Under it he finds Zero. Then he takes Zero with him to get to the big thumb. When they got there, there was no big thumb. It really is a rock surrounded by flowers. Stanley stays alive by drinking dirty water and eating onions. Then they make a desperate attempt to get home, but the warden catches them. In the end, they are both rich. I give this book a rating of 9.0 because I like how the author kept switching from present to past.
