Meeya writes the following about Nightjohn :
This book takes place in the south, and is about a black slave named sarny who is raised by a lady that is not really her mom but calls her mammy. Sarny heard all this stuff about a man named Nightjohn. Nightjohn is a really brave man who was the fisrt person to excape sucssefully, and when he did he took sarny and other children out at night and taught them how to read and write and then took them back to thier homes. This book is a short good historical fiction book that is good for kids around the ages 12-14 if u have to read one for school chose this book and find out how it ends.
