Sdauf writes the following about The Tower Of Geburah :
If you like monsters, sorcerers, and all the things from the medieval era, then The Tower of Geburah by John White is the book for you. The Tower of Geburah is kind of a fictional Christian story, but is more of a fantasy genre. The main characters of The Tower of Geburah are Wesley, Kurt, Lisa, Kardia, and Gaal. Wesley was the oldest kid, he has straight blonde hair, and he is worries a lot for Lisa and Kurt. Wesley never knew he had such great strength until Gaal's pigeon released the gift that lied dormant inside him. Kurt was the youngest, he has curly brown hair, and sometimes he thinks of no one but himself. Kurt also respects everyone's opinion and thinks some of the opinions are right but are wrong. Lisa was the middle kid, she has long wavy brown hair, and her attitude can change when people convince her, but she will always find the light of good. Kardia is the king of Anthropos, and he rarely made unwise decisions. Kardia is an adult; he has matted brown hair and he always thinks about anyone but himself which is good for a king. Gaal is a mysterious person that has characteristics like Jesus from the Bible. Gaal has long white hair, he always forgives anyone no matter how bad they were, and he changes the personalities of anyone he forgives from bad to good. The setting in The Tower of Geburah starts out in the real world of Canada in the mid 1970s where it all starts. The area in Canada is unknown but the place is called Grosvenor where there is lots of snow. Then when things get weird out of the ordinary, the three kids find themselves in another world called Playsion, at the kingdom of Anthropos. That time is about in the medieval era. When there were knights, kings, castles, and lots of forests, but also demons, sorcerers, monsters, wise people, and other fantasy things. The plot of the story starts out as Kurt found out about the T.V. sets in the attic. The T.V. sets were mysteriously turned on for some strange reason. All four showed different pictures, and Lisa found a way to get into one. She got sucked into the one of the T.V. sets as if she was vacuumed into a vacuum. Kurt and Wesley were really worried about Lisa being trapped in the set and were turned off so they couldn't know what to do. Then they found out how to reach Lisa, by going through another T.V. set. When they did, Wesley and Kurt found themselves somewhere else, but in the same area where Lisa is. Suddenly Lisa finds herself in a dungeon with a king named Kardia. Kardia was freed, but Lisa was left behind and was about to be sacrificed until Gaal saved her. From then she stayed safe from harm and rejoined with her brothers. Then Wesley, Lisa, and Kurt went on a journey to find a key, a sword, and a book from the Tower of Geburah. When they reached to the tower which was on an island in the middle of a lake, everything had to be opened by the name of Gaal but one door. They were in danger when Kurt opened the door and an evil guy told Kurt to destroy the tower or he would be killed. Kurt wanted to but he had to evacuate his siblings then destroyed the tower. You have to read this book to know what the end will be. I think the theme is that good will win and evil will lose and if you forgive someone then probably they will change will lose because mostly this book is about good vs. evil and how they keep battling. Also the characters change when Gaal forgave them of their evil doings which they changed to nicer people. The book I would compare this to is The Last Guardian by Shane Johnson. The Last Guardian and The Tower of Geburah are almost the same size. The Last Guardian has more excitement than The Tower of Geburah. The Tower of Geburah had an interesting beginning while The Last Guardian had a boring beginning. The ending was unusual in The Last Guardian but The Tower of Geburah had an interesting ending. My rating for The Tower of Geburah is a 9.5 because it is a great book and all, but I didn't like some parts that were jumping back and forth between the two different characters like the Lord of the Rings did. Also some parts that were confusing, but the description helped a lot. Those are the reason why I chose a 9.5 for The Tower of Geburah. Some suggestions for improving this book are to tell the details about the war that was happening. Also I would take out the parts that were not really important to the story. It kind of stuck out like an extra part that wasn't necessary. I would describe more about Wesley, Kurt, and Lisa about their physical appearance. I would also add some parts that would explain the story with more detail. The illustrations were really good to describe about some of the important scenes that were hard to imagine. I like the cover and back that demonstrates what the book is about. The best part I like the best was the description with the illustrations gives me a very clear picture of the scene. The Tower of Geburah is a good book but also can use some adjusting to make it better. I recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy and could use some faith in God. I hope you would enjoy this book. It might be your last.
