Hillary writes the following about The Midwife's Apprentice (Newbery Medal Book, 1996) :
The Midwife's Apprentice is a very interesting book. It is about a girl Alyce(previously Beetle and Brat). Alyce was homeless, until she was found by Jane (the midwife,Jane took Alyce in,provided Alyce was her apprentice and she ran errands and such.Well alyce turns out to be a very good midwife and people start to like Alyce over Jane. Yes this is a slow book BUT read it you will like it!
