Ryan writes the following about The Rifle :
The Rifle
One day Cornish McManus, a gunsmith, bought a nice piece of wood by chance. It had many knots that make it look like it had tiger eyes. Over the next year he makes a rifle this rifle is a
“Sweet” rifle (shoots very accurate and straight). Why else would Paulsen put a whole chapter on the making of the rifle if he didn’t want a certain audience? The rifle has managed to kill many people through the years. Gary Paulsen in this book writes a dark story that has many short lived lives in it. Where ever this rifle goes it brings death. Paulsen in this book brings out a point that guns kill people contrary to the National Rifle Association’s point of view people kill people. This book is a better book if you know more about rifles. After Byam the main user of the rifle for its first purpose killing died. In all these years after that no one checked to see if it was loaded.
