In The Pursuit of Happyness there is a little boy of eight years old. His name is Christopher Gardner. Ever since he could remember, up until he was eight, he lives in a foster home with his sister Ophelia. They were like best friends, and they were really close. Ophelia and Chris and some other children would always stop by a candy store and they would receive some candy from a beautiful lady, which later Chris found out that lady was his mother. Later Chris and Ophelia got to live with their mother and their step-father, Freddie. Freddie was a drunk and he couldn’t control his temper so he would always beat on them and their mother. After a few years with living with them they had two more daughters. So Freddie would still call them names and only Chris got the worst part. Bette Jean Gardner, Chris’ mother, kept on saying that they are going to leave him and never come back. One time she tried to burn the house down with Freddie in it and he was drunk. She went back to prison for a few more years of an attempt to burn down a house with someone in it. Chris then had to live with his aunt and uncle and other family members at the time. As Chris turned seventeen, he joined the navy with the hopes to see the world like his uncle Henry before he died. But Chris never got to see the world but did get a good education of becoming a doctor without a college degree. He met a girl named Sherryl and they got married. But only to find out that he has tried so long to become where he was at and not getting enough money to support where he lives and she is always nagging him. So they are through with each other. Chris soon after that, found another girl. Jackie was his dream and he was hers. They had a baby boy. They moved in together and had a hard time actually supporting the family. They fought almost all the time and now Chris is trying to find a new job as a stockbroker and is unable to see Jackie or his baby boy, Christopher Jr. It took months to earn enough money to rent a place to stay. Jackie gives Chris the baby. So now Chris has his baby back after a few long months and he has some trouble with affording a place to stay, feed his son, and have transportation to work. Sometimes he would stay in his office and sleep there. And he would sometimes stay in the BART station bathroom. One day when Chris got a better job as a different stockbroker he saw a house and now Chris and his son are off the streets and now living in a house. A few months later Chris move to New York and makes his own company with all the other savings he had put aside and saved. He then meets many other great people and has a daughter. The mother was Jackie, the same mother for Chris Jr. So now Chris has two beautiful children and he has a wonderful job. He couldn’t do this without his family and persistence to do the right thing.
