Kelly writes the following about The Watsons Go to Birmingham--1963 (Newbery Honor Book, 1996, No 2) :
I loved this book it was so good. At first I thought I wouldn't like it but the author put a very clear image in my mind. Also all the things that happened were so funny. This book made me almost want to cry it was so good! Thumbs both up for this book. Finally I don't really like these types of books but like I said the story was great and the author was great. Also the vocabulary was just right for me and I'm in 6th grade. Who knows this book might just end up in your hands one day. What more can I say this book was fantastic! I LOVED THIS BOOK! IT WAS GREEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!
