James D writes the following about Holes [UNABRIDGED] :
This book is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. Stanley's family is
under a curse. A curse that started with Stanley's
no-good-rotten-pig-stealing-great-grandfather. Stanley is sent to a boy's
detention center that is called Camp Green Lake. Boys are sent here for
crimes they have committed. Stanley is wrongly convicted of a crime he
had no part in. He believes this is the fault of his great grandfather
because he always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But Stanley meets Zero, a friend that has something to do with his
crime. There is one peculiar thing about Camp Green Lake. There is no
lake! At this camp the boys dig holes exactly five feet deep and five feet
wide. But Stanley thinks they are digging for something besides
charecter building. Keep reading and find out.
