Joey C. writes the following about The Golden Compass (His Dark Materials, No 1) :
The Golden Compass is about a girl called Lyra who lives in another universe in Jordan College and how she chases a child kidnapping group called the Oblation Board with many people who have lost thier children. They are also called the gobblers by the many people who have lost their children to the gobblers.

I think this a great book because it uses good descriptions and a some very descriptive words. And also I think it is a very good book because it has a very good plot and has no cheesy coincidences; the action is very beleivable. This book is very hard to put down
