Cub writes the following about Speak :
I THOUGHT THIS NOVEL WAS VERY VERY INTERSTING. IT HELPED ME FIGURE OUT WHAT GIRLS WHO HAVE BEEN RAPED GO THROUGH AS WELL AS HOW BECOME VERY DEPRESSED ALOS THEY HAVE EMOTIONAL BREAKDOWNS AND DON'T REALIZE IT IS RUINING THERE LIFE'S AT SCHOOL AND WITH FAMILY AT HOME. ALSO I THOUGHT IT WAS PRETTY AWESOME WHY MAY YOU WELL SIMPLE AS I CAN PUT IT BASICALLY IT MADE CRY IN TEARS IT TOUCHED MENTALLY AND EMOTIOALLY MADE ME REALIZE TO MYSELF THAT I AM VERY LUCKY TO NOT HAVE BEEN TORTURED AND HURT THE WAY MELINDA WAS AND I THANK GOD FOR THAT. SPEAK I RECOMMEND TO ALL THE YOUNG LADIES OUT THERE BECAUSE IT SHOWS TO TAKE CARE MORE OF YOURSELF AND MAKE BETTER CHOICES FOR INSTANCE NOT DRINK AND BE WITH GUYS WHO ARE SO MUCH OLDER THEN YOU. SO LATER YA HOES! ALWAYS CUB
