Anonymous writes the following about The Empty Mirror :
The Empty Mirror is a thriller that will keep you reading until the truth is revealed. The story is about a boy named Nick who lives in a town in Europe after World War I. The day that things began to go wrong was when Nick went to the boat yard with his uncle for the morning, then heading to Gypsy’s house, his best friend, for the rest of the day. But then he is accused of being at the lake, a local hang out spot for kids, by Mrs. Bell. She said that Nick was there early in the morning. So Gypsy and Nick went up to the lake to investigate. They looked in the lake and saw Gypsy’s refection, and their surroundings, but not Nicks refection! Nick, after that day, has been accused of trying to burn down a school and so much more. Who could be behind this? The only thing I wish I could change in this book is the character of Mrs. Bell. She is an extremely annoying character who doesn’t know how to stop gossiping. If she was not in the book or could keep things to herself then Nick would have been able to figure out quicker why these things were happening. Another change I would make is to make the book longer. There could be more explaining of the characters and the plot, because at the end there are still questions in my head, such as whatever happened to the “clone” of Nick. All in all I would give this book a 9 out of 10 for its interesting story line, great characters and the way it makes you feel Nick’s desperation for understanding. This is a great book, and is an easy quick read for a good reader, but a story that you will remember for a long time.
