The central topic in the book Hoot is that Roy Eberhardt is the new kid in couconut cove flordia. He is used to the hole bulie thing and is okay with making new friends but flordia hase somthing diffrent then all the other places he lived in life. Roy has always been the kid who write when he makes friends its time to move again. In his life time Roy has been to 7 diffrent schools and has bin the target to all kinds of bullies.
In florida roy has gottin in all kinds of troubel uptaning friends (comiting froud for exampel) . Roy has found himself in a group of friends with beatrice the bear and mullit fingers who are trying to save baby owls that live in the ground of a construction site (mother palaus pancake house) from instinction. they secssesfully save they owls and do it without breaking law.
