Hoot is about Roy Eberhardt, who struggles between his mind and heart to protect what he loves. There are no illustrations in the book except for the cover, and that is unique. The cover presents a little owl face, with a blue background. That is standoffish and unique, dragging readers toward it. Other editions have scenes from the movie, showing the main characters and the owls.
The story is a very grand masterpiece of combining parts of a book. The exposition has inside of it, the setting and characters. As the rising action occurs, you see Roy's conflicts within himself, leading up to the climax, which he balances his two forces until he can accomplish both. At the end of the book, all the mysteries are solved, and Roy has changed. How? Read for yourself!
