E. Dana 7 writes the following about Hoot :
This book is a wonderful story about a boy named Roy. He has moved a lot in his life and is used to being the 'new kid'. When Dana Matherson, the school bully, smashes his face against the school bus window, all he cares about is getting his face back. However, shoved against that window, he sees a boy running. Not particularly unusual. What is though, is that he wasn't wearing shoes, and didn't get on the bus. The next day, he sees the running boy again, and decides to follow him. This leads to a series of events that cause Roy to make a startling realization. Soon he knows the running boy and is wrapped up in a mysterious scandal involving corrupted adults, a pancake house, and some really tiny owls. If adventure and mystery with a good message, "Hoot" is a book for you.
