livv writes the following about The Cay :
The Cay: By Theodore Taylor: I think this book has a very powerful message to it. One of the really strong messages I got from the book is don't judge a person by their looks it is what is on the inside that counts. I have never read a book by Theodore Taylor before. I like the book so much that I am now going to read the prequel- sequel Timtohy of The Cay. I like Theodore Taylor's style of writing. At the front of the book Theodore Taylor dedictaes to his book to Martin Luther King's dream. Martin Luther Kings dream was that one day he wanted little black boys and girls to be able to hold hands with little white girls and boys as sisters and brothers. Theodore Taylor says that this can only happen if the young know and understand. I absolutely agree with him. I think that this book is for for ages 10 and up. It may seem like a childrens book but I think it is a gerat book for adults to read aswell. The Cay is one of my all time favourite books. I have never in my life before read a book with such a powerful message to it. I give this book a 10 out of 10. It is one of the best books I have ever read. My other favourite book is Bridge to Terabithia. But I think the Cay would have to be my favourite book. It is also sort of a sad book aswell. It was sad when Timtohy died. I think Timothy was a very kind a loving man. I don't see why Phillip's mom was predujice. I think that blacck people are even kinder than some white people. They do not care about how people look. Maybe if Phillip had have been blind to start with he may have teated Timtohy differnetly because he would not have known wether he was black or white. I like the part when Phillip asked Timtothy if he is still black. I am also glad that the book has a happy ending. I was pleased when I found out that Phillip had an operation so that he could see again. I was gald that Phillip was reunited with his parents again. But I hope that Phillips mum changes her ways in how she treats balck people. My mum told me a that we are all born equally so we should all remain equall. The Cay is a book that I could read over and over again. I thought that It was a great book!
