A Step from Heaven is a book about a Korean Family who move to Mi Gook(America). In America they learn English and Young Ju starts going to school. The mother has a baby boy named Joon and the Apa(father)favors him more than Young Ju. In Korea her father had a drinking problem. When they came to America he said he would stop, except it only got worse. Apa started to abuse Young Ju and her mother. It got so bad Young Ju called the police and had him arrested. The family goes through life changing situations like learning to live in a whole new culture, looses a family member, Apa gets arrested, having to lie to friends, and much more. Read the book for yourself. It is an amazing book. It is very well written and taught me abaout what goes on in immigration life, and how hard it might be some of them.
