Ray writes the following about Tangerine :
This book is very good. It is very interesting and it always keeps you reading. It is about a boy named Paul who has an older brother named Erik. Paul moved from texas to Lake Windsor Downs. Paul has what they call in the book coke bottle glasses because they are so thick. His parents said he stared at a solar eclipse to long and he almost lost his vision and thats how he got his glasses. When they first get to Lake Windsor Downs Erik already made a friend named Aurthor. The next day Erik and Pauls dad went to look at the football stadium. When Paul woke up he went outside and he smelled something burning so he ran back in and woke up his mom and she called the fire department. They showed up very late. When they showed up it was only one person and he was a volenter fire man. He explained that the burning smell were the muck fires and he said they never go out. The smell only comes when its a west wind. Later in the story Erik is playing for the Lake Windsor Downs football team. Erik met a person named Mike. Mike was going to hold the ball for Erik why'll Erik Kickes it. Pauls family exept for Paul believe in the Erik Fisher football Dream. Which is that Erik has to go pro. The football team practices in the after noon when the thunder storms hit. Mike is killed by a lightening bolt hit the goal post why'll he is leaning on it. Pauls school has portables that double for classrooms. A big thunder storm hits and were the portables are and half the bleachers is flooded. The next day the portables are in a sink hole and half the bleachers are. So now Paul has to go to a new school named Tangerine middle. This school are known as bullies. When Paul gets there he wanted to play on the soccer team. It was hard to get on the team because the starters were very good. After he played with them he was exepted as one of them at Tangerine middle. Later in the book there is a conflict with a player on the soccer team named Luis and Aurthor. Aurthor hit Luis with a blackjack right to the head. The next week there was a freeze and Paul helps them save the tangerine trees from dieing. The next day Luis dies from an aneurism. The people thought a branch hit him on the head and made the anuerism. Paul actually knows what happened to Luis. There has been termites in houses so they tented them and why'll they are tented there has been things stolen out of the houses and no one knows who is doing it. At the end Paul knows that Aurthor killed Luis and he tells and Aurthor gets aressted. Then Erik gets caught because he was the one stealing things and the police ask Paul to right how he knows this is true and he tells everything that happened to him or others that had to do with Erik. This book is great I would recomened it to anyone it is very good. You should read it.
