Gail Grim writes the following about Very Quiet Cricket :
The Very Quiet Cricket presents children with a view of the social life of a BUG! It's darling. It takes the reader through a series of would be conversations between a very young cricket, and insects of other families. They all try to say hello to the cricket but he can't answer... until one day when he meets another cricket. His voice is finally found, and it's beautiful. My children have always enjoyed the story, and I never tire of reading it to them. The happy ending makes it an ideal bed-time story, and the opportunities for further education on insects are numerous. The book's illustrations leave a bit to the imagination, but catch the eye of even the youngest "readers". The surprise ending keeps children entranced to the end. I highly recomend this story, to children of all ages.
