I read this book and really enjoyed it. I also would like to read the sequal Tuckers Countryside. I rated this book 10 because of the idea of the book. Usually, I'm not interested in stories where animals talk, but for some reason I liked this book. I think it is because it seemed like a true story. It sounded true because it took place in a real place and the author used animals that really exist like, a mouse, a cat, and a cricket. Also, what was interesting about the book was the animals acted the same way as humans. They had furniture. They had a house but, compared to people's things theirs is a lot smaller. In this sense this book reminded me of the book The Borrowers. The discussions that the animals had were also very interesting to read. They talked about economy, politics and even pop stars! I think just about everyone could read this book because the plot is easy to understand. Even thought the plot is easy to understand, it is nothing close to boring. It is a very funny but also a very sad book. There is a sequel to this book and it is called Tucker's Countryside. I hope to read this in the future since I enjoyed The Cricket In Times Square so much.
