Katie writes the following about Hitty, Her First Hundred Years :
The book, Hitty, Her First Hundred Years is an imaginative and enjoyable book that will take readers on an incredible and memorable journey. To be honest, when my teacher told me to read this book, I was skeptical. I said to myself, "a book about a doll? What? I'll just read it and get it over with." It turned out to be one of the best books I've ever read. I rated this book as 9 out of 10, because it was slow to start in the beginning, but I was captivated by how well the plot flowed together. I specifically liked all the adventure in the book and how each character had his or her own personal character. It added a certain sparkle and liveliness to the story. For example, Phoebe Preble, one of Hitty’s owners, adds a childish innocence to the story. One of the themes in the book is travel. I think this book is a capital choice for girls between the ages of 8 and 14 who enjoy reading historical fiction. I wouldn’t change anything about this book, because the author was so descriptive in her writing and every little detail will add a little bit to the picture forming in your mind. Readers will not be able to put this book down.
Hitty is a doll and she has lived one hundred eventful years and she has written down her memoirs. Hitty’s journey starts with the Preble family. With the Preble family, she travels to India. While in India, she’s lost in a bazaar. If you want to know what happens next or who finds her, you’ll have to pick up a copy of, Hitty, Her First Hundred Years, at your library. It’ll be worth the trip!
