This book was great. It tells you about a brave girl named Carolina, who has big responsibilities at a young age. She has a baby half-sister, a mother who she calls by her name, and an abusive step-father. Her stepfather drinks, hits Carolina's mother, and lies. She hardly knows her real dad. Her real dad is almost halfway across the world. The worst part is that the family lives in an old bus. They clearly are poor. When she finds a baby crow, she soon starts to care for it. She is found by a disabled boy named Stefan. Stefan is the complete opposite of Carolina. Stefan's family is filthy rich. She soon realizes the old bus of theirs is on Stefan's family private land. When Carolina comes to visit Stefan (her best friend now)at his house, his mother is delighted to have her there. She attends parties of theirs. Carolina is offered to stay with Stefan's family for two weeks, while her mother, her baby half-sister, and the wacky stepfather are trying to find an actual home in Oregon. When Carolina realizes that being with her mother gives her a hard time, she askes Stefan's mother to stay forever. She tells Stefan's mother that she is a waste of money and time to her mother. Stefan's mother disagrees and thinks that she's a big help to her mother. Carolina realizes that too. Now, Carolina must make a decision to leave her close friend , Stefan and go to Oregon to reunite with her mother, or to stay with Stefan's family forever. There is much more!!!!!!!!! The huge lesson is that when she found the stray baby bird. The bird had no food or family. SHe took care of the bird. She waited for it to fly. The lesson out of that is appreciate that you atleast have shelter and food, and a roof over your head. Read this book it's great!!!! Find out what decision Carolina makes, and if her crow will ever fly.
