Bridgette writes the following about A Deadly Game of Magic :
A Deadly Game of Magic Laurel-Leaf Books, 1983, 148pp. $4.99 Joan Lowery Nixon ISBN-0-440-92102-3 When Lisa sees the light in the house in north Dallas, she thinks it will help them with their car that is breaking down. Lisa tells Bo Baxter, a macho nerd, to bring the car to the house. The other two people in the car are Teena Wilson and Julian Hamilton IV, a loner who wants to be dancer but is kind of being pushed into the family business as a doctor. They don’t think going to the house is really a good idea. The person who answers the door, Black Beard, answers it before they ring the doorbell. He says he and his wife live here, but Lisa and her friends think that they are burglars. Lisa is feeling really weird because the lights just burned out and she feels like someone else is in the house with them. When they see something moving like a magic trick they think it is a famous magician. Lisa thinks that she can out play him in his own game of magic. If you want to see if they can beat him, check out this book. Joan Lowery Nixon is a great author and is the four-time Edgar Award Winning author. She can make the reader feel like they are one of the characters in the book. I recommend A Deadly Game of Magic to anyone who likes a mystery and/or is into magic. I was really into the book. I never wanted to put it down!
