I rate this book a 7 because it wasn’t the kind of book that would appeal to me at first. I do, however, think that this book covers a lot of great things about life. I like that it teaches about other cultures and beliefs. The suspense in certain parts of the story is just bound to grab your attention and not let go. Santiago's pursuit of happiness and destiny combined with his search for the alchemist is very unique, but yet very appealing, because at first no one really knows much about it. “Because my eyes are not yet accustomed to the desert,” Santiago said, “I can see things that eyes habituated to the desert might not see.” What this quote says to me is that even if people don’t see what you see or feel what you feel, you should still follow your dream, and complete your destiny. I would recommend this book to people who like to learn about different cultures.
