Jessica writes the following about Number the Stars :
Number the Stars is about a girl named Annemarie Johanson, family, and friends (the Rosens). Annemaries friend Ellen is Jewish and so are Ellens parents (this takes place while the Holocaust is going on in World War II). Annemaries sister, Lise pasted away years ago and her fiance Peter helps the family out by taking Ellens parents to where they would be safe and Ellen stays w/ Annemarie and family and pretends to be Lise when the German soldiers come and knock on the Johansons door and asks where the Rosens might be, they didn't know. The German soldiers left. The next morning Annemaries mother came up w/ the idea that Ellen isn't safe here, we have to go to my brothers house near Sweden (where it was free). They got there and found a casket full of blankets. They emptied it out and Ellen and her
mom and dad got into it and Uncle Hendrik (Annemaries Uncle) took them over in a boat. They made it over safely but forgot something That Peter gave to Mr.Rosen to have. So Annemarie ran it over to Mr.Rosen but along the way ran into German soldiers and dogs. She got past them and delivered it to Mr.Rosen. She and Uncle Hendrik made it safely back w/ no problems.
