Liz writes the following about Holes [UNABRIDGED] :
The book "HOLES" by Louis Sachar is one that will immediately capture your attention. It is so intriguing that you won't want to put it down. Stanley Yelnats, an overweight child acused of stealing a pair of sneakers, is under a curse. The curse began with his "no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing great-great-grandfather" and has flowed into all generations of the Yelnats. Now Stanley has been sent to a boys' detention center, Camp Green Lake. There is no lake at Camp Green Lake, but many holes. The boys at camp spend their day digging holes that are to be exactly five feet wide and five feet deep, to build character. Yet Stanley realizes that there's more than that going on. The warden is loking for something. But what is she looking for? Stanley and the others try to dig up the answer in this entertaining tale of crime and correction. I gave the story a 9.5 because the ending could have been cleaner, such as what really happened to Stanley's friends.
