Christopher writes the following about Sir Gawain and the Loathly Lady :
In this story, King Arthur is faced with the riddle 'What is it that women most desire'. He must answer the riddle before New Years. All the women in the kingdom give him different answers. He meets the Loathly Lady in the forest and asks her the question, she gives him the answer, the choice, for a small request: to get married to one of King Arthurs knights.

Sir Gawain accepts this, and gets married. He realizes that the lady is beautiful, but had a curse on her, but it iis only half broken. She asks him if he wants her beautiful at night, and ugly during the day, or the other way around. He gives her a choice, and the spell is broken.

I really enjoyed reading this story, it had so many twists and turns, i never expected tho old hag to answer his question, or that she was actually a beautiful lady.
