Tiffany Tomato writes the following about Holes :
Have you ever read a book that you thought that you would never read ? Well, I just read an awsome book called Holes. It's such an awsome book because it has adventure and it's interesting. For example, Stanley and his friend Zero travel to a place they call "The Big Thumb." The main charatures in the book are Stanley, X-Ray,Zero, the Warden ,Mr. Sir, and Mr .Pendinski. Zero,X-ray, and Stanley are boys that are at a jail camp called Camp Green Lake. Mr.Sir and Mr. Pedinski are counslors, and the Warden is the head person of the camp. The story takes place on a dried up lake with many holes. It is also very hot. Holes is about a group of boys who have to dig 5' by 5' holes everyday out in the hot and dry weather. They are doing this because they are being punished, but that is not really why they are digging holes. It's because there is some kind of treasure buired in the dried-up lake. I think the author is trying to tell the reader that we should know for sure who did something before we punish them or blame them. This book is not like any other book that I have seen or read before because of the subject and setting. The setting doesn't compare to any other book's setting that I have read . No other book I've read has the same setting in a desert with a lot of man-made holes. The topic is also different, because there are no ohter books I have read that have to deal with boys who are in trouble and have to dig holes to find treasure as punishment. I would rate this book a 10 because of its great descriptions and deateils. For example, the book explains about setting in great detail so the reader can see a picture in their minds. I don't think that the book needs any any improvements at all. I really recommend this book, and I hope that if you decide to read it, you will have great- detailed pictures in your mind as I did.
