Guts By Gary Paulsen
Have you ever spilled your guts to anyone before? Gary Paulsen has and wrote about it in his book Guts. This is a nonfiction book about Gary Paulsen when he was a kid and what he did before he became an author. This book will tell you things you wouldn?t think of, mostly experiences that he had when he was in the great outdoors of Minnesota, Alaska, and Canada. He also talks about close encounters with wildlife while he was racing his dogs, practicing for an Iditarod, and hunting when he was a kid. This book tells things that happened to Gary growing up, racing his dogs, how he survived, and things that happened to him that he wrote in his book Hatchet and the other Brian books he wrote. Also in this book there are direct quotes from his book Hatchet at the beginning of each chapter. If I were to rate this book 1-10 I would give it an 8.5 because you would have to have read Hatchet or the other Brian books for Guts to make sense. Another reason I gave this book an 8.5 is that he kept skipping around to different places. If Gary Paulsen ever wrote this book again I would suggest to him to make it so that if someone who hasn?t read any of the Brian books they would understand it better. So if you like Hatchet or other Brian books you should read this book.
