bridget writes the following about A Long Way From Chicago :
In this book Joey and his sister, Mary Alice, visit thier Grandma Dowdel for the next nine years. They start out by hosting an open house for shotgun's funeral, and re-shoting his body, to baking a gooseberry pie to save the city. At first they dread going to Grandma Dowdels and at the end they have memories of thier summers with Grandma Dowdel that will last a life time.
