Katherine Sutcliffe writes the following about Gypsy Rizka :
I read the book Gypsy Rizka by Lloyd Alexander. This story takes place in a town called Greater Dunitsa in the present time. Greater Dunitsa has a roomy public square with a horse trough in the middle, and a town clock. Rizka is the main character in this book and she is a quick-witted, intelligent, and sassy prankster who lives in a gypsy wagon waiting for her father's return. Greater Dunitsa is affected by the Zipple, which is a little breeze from the south, and everyone's mood changes. Because this year's Zipple is extremely long and aggravating to the townsfolk, they make a new law which states that anyone who insults somebody else will have to go to jail. The mayor ends up in jail, but later the temporary Mayor Rizka, frees him. Finally, one day Rizka sees a gypsy's caravan and hopes her fdather is returning to her.
I liked this book because it is about a girl who isn't scared of other people and is very smart. I also liked this book because it is about a girl my age however, I didn't like this book because some of the words the author used were incomprehensible to me, so I had to find out what they meant.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about pranksters. I would also recommend this book to people who like adventure.
