Billy Bob writes the following about The Magician's Nephew (The Chronicles of Narnia, Book 1) :
It is hard for me to find the words to describe this novel. All I can say is that I would have to give it at least a nine on ten rating. This novel is appropriate for all ages. As an easy read and an amazing fantasy this book could be loved by little children. The speaking animals, wacky magician and evil queen would catch their attention and capture their imagination.
For older children and adults this is a book of meaning. The main character Digory, has a mother that is sick and dying. I believe that C. S. Lewis got this idea from his own personnel experience of his mother dying of cancer when he was a young boy. He must have imagined himself as a brave boy who traveled from world to world to save his mother. He let nothing get in his way. Not the evil queen, not a deranged magician and most of all not the destruction of the earth itself. With his enthusiastic imagination he managed to create a book beyond compare, The Magicians Nephew. A book created from his heart and soul themselves.
