Mucker writes the following about The Fellowship of the Ring :

Well what can I say about this boook other than read it?!?! This is easily one of the most intriguing collection of books ever written. The trilogy "Lord of the Rings" grabs you, holds you, and doesn't let you go until your done, and asking for more. If you have ever read "the Hobbit" then you know what your in for. If you haven't, then start off with it, and then try not to read this trilogy... I dare you! I think J. R. R. Tolkein is the most creative writing mind I have ever encountered. The world he creates in these books make you feel as if you are there, fighting along side the Elves, chasing after the Rings, and always looking over your shoulder... just to make sure. I won't tell you about the book itself, I can't. To give you a glimpse would only take away from the experience you would get reading it yourself. I can only tell you that once you start, you won't turn back. Expect many late nights, no spare time, and a totally engulfing experience that will take over your life until the last page has been turned... and then you'll be left asking for more.
