Emma Wright writes the following about Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone :
The main character is Harry Potter. He is a 12 year old wizard who goes to a school called Hogwarts. His mother and father died when he was a baby and Harry was left on the door step of some non-wizard relatives called the Dursley's. At Hogwarts his friend is Ron. Ron is just starting at Hogwarts as well. Hermione was a friend and she was a first year at Hogwarts as well. He made a friend with Neville. Neville was very clumsy and kept losing his frog. The problem is that an important object called the Philosopher's Stone is going to be stolen by one of the teachers in Hogwarts. Harry and his friends try to prevent it being stolen. I thought the book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was excellent. The characters were really explained well. The book would suit ages 8 and up. You could always get the picture in your head and it would get you sucked in to the story. Each character had its own thing. Like Harry Potter would always like an adventure. Harry was a little shy. Harry would investigate anything interesting. The Sorcerer's Stone would have been stolen if Harry didn't find Fluffy's soft spot, music. Hermione would think then she would do it. Hermione wasn't shy. She would say what she thought. She was smart and studied a lot. Ron was shy and wasn't sure about a lot of things. Ron would rather not explore and just do a little studying. Even the front cover was well illustrated and it wasn't overly detailed. J.K.Rowling is a great author and I recommend her books.
