This book takes place in the 1930's. A family is going through racism and their daughter just wants to be like everyone else. The family lives in San Fransisco and they all have dreams that they're going to fulfill and get to where they want to go. Suddenly their lives change by Aunt Waka coming to stay for the summer. I think I would recommend this to many people because you can get different feelings from the book. It makes me laugh and once I almost cried. I think the public would enjoy this book because they could read it and compare the book to their time period or lifestyle and see if anything was the same or different. The genre of this story is realistic fiction because most of the things that they say in the story could be true.
