The Calling of the Bard is a must-have. It arrived in the mail and I devoured it right away. And that's my only complaint: It's a quick read...and well...the ending was good, but I was hoping for a different and happier one. Not a tragedy!
The tinge of mystery that revolves around Boiteux is captivating. You discover much as the old bard investigates who killed the dwarven king Guthan and soiled Boiteux’s name. It's not simply a handful of fairy tales, though there are tales in the tale. LoL Reality plays a roll and gives the book a sense of depth and quality. The author’s portrayal of the surrounding areas and situations are visually moving and helps congeal the story.
I gave the book a rating of 8 because it is a tasty dessert with a good bitter end.
