Iron thunder the battle between the monitor and the Merrimac Ping! That is the sound of a cannon ball bounding off steel. I give the Book Iron Thunder by Avi a 9.6. It is a good book for young boys and old boys and girls. This book has a lot of detailed illustrations and I give it a 5.0 on illustrations. . In the book the main character is a boy named Tom and he is a strong boy and has a brave heart. Another character is the man Mr.Hendricks who is working on the ship to build it . It is a book set in 1849 and is a Civil War novel. It is a historic eye witness and that means it is a story through Tom’s eyes. In this cases Tom is a boy and his father died and his family needs money, so he joins the navy and the ship he is put on makes encounters many problems. You will need to read to find out those problems. This book is predictable from the start and if I would re-write this book I would make it less predictable because it was too
