Robert Polk writes the following about Peak :
I read the book Peak by Roland Smith. It is the story of a boy who gets in trouble with the law and may go to jail until he is eighteen. He is fourteen now and does not think he should be inprisoned for climbing a building and spray painting it. He has not seen his father in seven years and on his court date he shows up. The judge decides to let Peak live with his father in Thailand. When Peak gets there he does not atay with his father but in a hotel. His father says that he is going to climb Mt. Everest and be the youngest person to climb the mountain. His father can not take him up there so he gets a close friend, Zopa, to guide him up the mountain. Zopa brings along a young boy, Sun-jo, to climb the mountain. If Sun-jo reaches the summit, he would be the first person and youngest from Tibet. It takes them awhile to climb the mountain and during that time they strike up a close friendship. At the end when they are ten feet away from the top, Peak stops and decides not to finish. He has nothing to prove so he helps out his good friend Sun-jo reach the top. I recommend this book to anyone because it is an interesting read.
