Phil is just a 6th grader, who is tall for his age. Daniel is a 4th grader. One day Phil sees another kid wearing his brother’s jacket (Jimmy). He assumes the jacket was stolen.
He starts yelling at Daniel and they go to the office. It turns he was wrong. Daniel got it has a gift. So then Phil ask himself the question: Would he have made the same assumption if the boy wearing the jacket hadn’t been African American? And that question leads to others that reveal some unsettling truths about Phil’s neighborhood, his family, and even himself! What I would change about the book is nothing because I thought it was a excellent book good hook love to read it again.
