stephen brown writes the following about Esperanza Rising :
My name is Stephen brown and I read a small portion of Esperanza rising. My thoughts obout the story are , I feel bad about Esperanza loosing her home and every thing else. It is sad that Esperanza had to leave her abulita back home to go to the united states. The most heart breaking part is when the father papa is killed by the uncles to buy the land and mary the mother. to me it is hard for esperanza to adjust to her new enviorment and Miguel can be jerky some times. Things take a turn for the worst when mama gets sick and esperanza Mom gets sick so esperanza has to work to help them live there. The stoy takes place in mexico on a ranch. the time line is in the 193Os the other setting takes place in california when the great depression was around. Out of the mean nasty characters in the story isabella fits the discription. This is my book review by Stephen brown.
